This was my experience with calling the direct number at NWA agent assistance Feb. 26, 2007. As this is a computerized answering system, there are innumerable variations you could encounter by making different choices. For instance, you could say ""New reservation" in step 2 and eventually wind up getting to an agent, too, but I didn't try that. All I'm describing here is what I tried and found worked.

By the way, this is not a secret number. These are simply instructions on how to call a regular NWA reservation agent number. This is not the platinum desk, but it is a live agent.

1. Dial 218-254-7546

2. Recorded question:
"Tell me what option you'd like, choosing from flight status, Worldperks, new reservations or existing reservations?"
Say: "Existing reservations" (or press 4)

3. Recorded question:
"Was this reservation booked at NWA.com?"
Say: "Yes"
Note: if you say "No", they will ask you to enter your Worldperks number (oh bother!) and more questions after that before sending you to an agent.

4. Recorded question:
"Are you calling for a seat assignment or to confirmation of your flight?"
Say: "No"

5. An agent might answer now or a recording might ask:
" Press 1 for domestic reservations, press 2 for international reservations"
Answer: Press 1 or 2, depending on if your flight is domestic or international

6. An agent will answer

Calling 800/877/888 numbers from overseas

I know this works in France. I'm not sure about anywhere else.

To call a U. S. or Canadian toll-free number:

• instead of 800, dial 00 1 880
• instead of 877, dial 00 1 882
• instead of 888, dial 00 1 881

...then the number.

It's not toll-free,
but you do get through.
